been launched to improve the competitiveness and sustaina\u00adbi\u00adlity of the local construction industry.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the Construction Industry Deve\u00adlop\u00adment Board\u2019s (CIDB) CAP 2026-2030 would be a roadmap to help the industry reach its targets within that timeframe.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">They include the industry achieving 100% compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (Construction Work) (Design Man\u00ada\u00adgement) Regulations 2024, and 80% industry score for Qua\u00adlity Assessment System in Cons\u00adtruction and Safety and Health Assessment System in Cons\u00adtruc\u00adtion, he said.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">Other goals include having 50% of building projects valued above RM40mil to get green certification, a top 20 spot for the industry in the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) World Competitiveness Ranking and for local industry players to be recognised in at least three international markets.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<div data-google-query-id=\"CPH7vd7-9ZIDFXCm2AUd1tkxFQ\">\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">Nanta said the plan also aimed to achieve a 100% accreditation rate for all construction workers in the industry.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u201cIt will be driven by industry players and strategic partners, and supported through the governance and coordination of CIDB.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u201cUltimately, CAP30 is to help ensure that the direction and objectives of the National Cons\u00adtruction Policy 2030 are implemented in a planned and focused way,\u201d he said at the CAP30 launch here yesterday.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">Nanta said CAP30 would also look at several new strategic ini\u00adtiatives to support the government\u2019s overall national agenda of digitalisation and increasing resi\u00adliency, including exploring new potential energy sources for the industry and increased automation and digitalisation.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u201cThis includes considering the potential use of nuclear energy as part of the national effort to strengthen energy security and support the transition towards a low-carbon economy.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u201cCAP30 will also push for increased adoption of modern construction technologies along with skill development efforts of local workers to enable them to use these new technologies, redu\u00adcing our reliance on foreign labour.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u201cIncreased digitalisation for use in the planning, implementation and monitoring of construction projects will also be a focus to enhance efficiency and support the development of a more modern, resilient and responsive local industry ecosystem,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">The minister urged all industry stakeholders to continue provi\u00adding strong support and commitment towards the successful implementation of initiatives under NCP 2030 and CAP30, saying transformation of the cons\u00adtruction industry was a shared responsibility.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">Speaking to reporters later, Nanta said no infrastructure or facilities under the ministry were reported damaged by the 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Sabah on Monday.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u201cWhile we have not received any report of damage to our roads and other assets, we will continue to monitor the situation closely,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">Asked if Malaysia enforced building code standards to withstand earthquakes, he said the Malaysian National Annexe to Eurocode 8 for Design of Struc\u00adtures for Earthquakes was adopted since 2017.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-2\">According to MetMalaysia, the earthquake\u2019s epicentre was loca\u00adted about 49km west of
